ABOUT SYMPOSIUM

International Sago Symposium convenes international in biannually for debate and dialogue on continuity of sago palm development maintaining the aspect of conservation, social and culture in achieving sustainable development goals. Over 48 years has elapsed since the First International Sago Symposium was held in Kuching in 1976. Subsequently, Kuching hosted the 4th and 13th International Sago Symposiums. The symposium has become a media for communication and discussion for scholarly exchange, discussion, and other initiatives. The symposium aims at gathering scientists, industrial stakeholders and government officials working on different aspects of sago development to ensure sustainable sago industrial crop production system.

 

SYMPOSIUM THEME

"Unlocking the Potential of Sago Palm: Towards Sustainable Food Systems and Environmental Restoration", embodies our collective ambition to deepen our understanding of sago palm's nutritional and environmental benefits. And to also elevate its status globally as a viable, sustainable, and nutritious food source for food security while playing a pivotal role in the restoration and rehabilitation of tropical peatlands.


Call for Papers

The 15th International Sago Symposium is now accepting abstract and manuscript submissions in English. Prospective authors are invited to submit their abstract and full paper. Technical papers on aspects related to (but not limited to) the scope of the symposium are invited for oral presentation.
